The two partners in Human Factors Consultants (HFC) are scientists; we provide expert consultation and testimony to the legal community on the scientific factors that affect the accuracy of eyewitness identifications and fingerprint identifications; the factors that affect the accuracy of memory, child and adult; and the scientific factors that affect the causation of accidents involving human error, design, construction or maintenance issues, and need for warnings. We specialize in reports and testimony that can be understood by non-scientists. Our areas of expertise include

Legal Experience:

We have been retained by both plaintiff and defendant in over 80 civil cases, and by both prosecution and defense in over 75 criminal cases. We have assisted clients in ten states and six federal district courts.

Background

Ralph Haber has a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Stanford University (1957) and post-doctoral training in human factors from Cambridge, England (1970-71). He has taught at Stanford University, Yale University, University of Rochester and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Lyn Haber has a Ph.D. in experimental linguistics from University of California at Berkeley (1970), and is nationally certified in Speech-Language Pathology. She has taught at Temple University, Stanford University, University of Rochester and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Between them they have received 25 grants and contracts from federal and military granting agencies, published 12 books and 250 articles in scientific journals and books, and given 150 presentations at professional conventions and conferences.
