Dr. Frankel offers his services as an expert witness/consultant in all areas of breast imaging, including screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, and interventional procedures including stereotactic and ultrasound guided breast biopsies. He has skills in other aspects of breast imaging as well, including MRI, digital mammography, PET imaging and sentinel node analysis.
Dr. Frankel is currently a practicing MD and Medical Director of Tower Imaging Medical Group in Southern California. He did his radiology residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in Breast Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. Subsequently, as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at UCSF from 1992-1999, Dr. Frankel was involved in patient care, physician education, and research. In addition to book chapters, abstracts, and poster presentations, he has contributed over 20 peer reviewed articles to the Radiology literature. He has been a speaker at national professional meetings and has served on the editorial board for the
journal Radiology.
While at UCSF he was chief of Breast Imaging at the San Francisco General Hospital from 1997-1999 and was Associate Chief of Breast Imaging at the UCSF-Mt. Zion Hospital from 1994-1998. In addition, he was a member of the Abdominal Imaging Section at UCSF where he pursued his interests in the imaging of gynecologic malignancies with pelvic MRI and the evaluation of infertility with hysterosalpingography. In 1998 he developed and oversaw the initiation of the UCSF Women's Imaging Fellowship. Dr. Frankel trained with and subsequently worked with two (2) world renowned Breast Imagers, Dr Jim
Brenner at Saint Johns Eisenberg Keefer Breast Center in Santa Monica and Dr. Edward Sickles at UCSF in San Francisco.
He is a member of the Society of Breast Imaging, the Society for the Advancement of Women's Imaging, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the American Medical Association.
